| Abraham, Peter | On 17 January 2024 Aged 75 Pete served at West End Fire Station from October 1975 until the station was closed in January 1996, by which date he was serving as a Leading Fireman. He then went on to serve with the Emergency Catering Team from February 1998, until that team was disbanded. |
| Albury, Alan | On 17 November 2012 Aged 80 Alan served at Aldershot for 30 years until his retirement as Leading Fireman in November 1985. He died after a prolonged period of illness. |
| Anderson, Tim | On 21 November 2022 Aged 71 Tim joined retained at Brockenhurst in June 1972. He subsequently joined wholetime in February 1974, where he served at St Marys, Headquarters, Training Centre, D Div HQ, Redbridge Fire Safety and Lyndhurst. He retired as a Station Officer in Fire safety in January 2001. |
| Atkins, Thomas | On 25 November 2010 Aged 97 Tom served with the Southampton Fire Brigade until his retirement in June 1957. |
| Atwell, Harold, (Curley) | On 15 April 2012 Aged 98 ‘Curley’ joined the Portsmouth Police Fire Brigade in 1939 continuing as a Fireman until his retirement in 1969 and then as a maintenance man until final his retirement in 1979. |
| Ayling, Les | On 24 June 2023 Aged 94 Les joined Portsmouth City Fire Brigade in November 1951 and retired as DO in charge of Fire Prevention at B Div HQ, B20 Copnor, in January 1982. |
| Baker, Ian | On 5th July 2008 Aged 59 Ian served with St Mary’s and Fire Safety (C Division) until his retirement on 8th April 1999. |
| Bannon, Alan | On 6 April 2010 Aged 38 Alan, tragically died as a result of his injuries incurred whilst tacking a serious fire at Shirley Towers, Southampton. He was a firefighter on Red Watch, St Marys, having served as a firefighter for 8 years 6 months. Prior to this he had served in the HFRS vehicle workshops for 4 years. |
| Barfoot, Roy | On 10 March 2012 Aged 78 Roy served as a Mechanic in the Workshops until retiring in March 1997. |
| Barker, Dave | On 22 January 2019 Aged 57 Dave was a serving Firefighter at B24 Southsea, White Watch who had previously served at stations including Cosham and St Marys during his fire service career of over 30 years. |
| Barnard, George | On 26 May 2012 Aged 85 George served at Aldershot and Fleet fire stations before his retirement in 1981. |
| Barnes, Keith | On 16 January 2023 Aged 61 Keith joined Hampshire in June 1979, serving at St Marys, Redbridge and D Division Fire Safety, achieving the rank of Sub Officer before transferring to Dorset (later Dorset and Wiltshire), retiring as a Group Manager (District Commander). |
| Barnes, Mick | On 30 July 2019 Aged 76 Mick joined the Southampton Fire Brigade in October 1971 and served at ‘Central’ (St Marys), Headquarters (Winchester), Training Centre, Eastleigh, Woolston, Headquarters (Eastleigh), B Div HQ and D Div HQ, retiring as a Divisional Officer in November 2001. Mick was an active member of the PMA Committee and had been doing so since the original formation of the Association, regularly attending and supporting our events. |
| Barrett, Albert (Bruby) | On 17 March 2010 Aged 74 Albert served as a Fireman at Petersfield until his retirement in May 1983. |
| Barrett, Jim | On 7 October 2021 Aged 69 Jim joined Hampshire Fire Brigade in 1980 after serving as a Constable in the Metropolitan Police. He served at Cosham, Training Centre Instructor, Woolston, Hightown, D Division Fire Safety, OiC at St Mary’s and a Divisional Training Instructor, before becoming the HFRS HAZMAT Officer, finally retiring after 30 years’ service in 2010. |
| Bass, Doreen | On 4 June 2012 Aged 82 Doreen served as secretary at Headquarters when it was based in Winchester and then at D Division Headquarters, retiring as Secretary to the Divisional Commander. |
| Batten, Lin | On 25 April 2018 Lin was a cleaner, cake-maker, occasional counsellor and friend to all at Fareham Fire Station. |
| Beebe, Charlie | On 12 August 2011 Aged 89 Charlie served as a Fireman at Woolston Fire station, having originally joined the Southampton Fire Brigade. In 1976 he retired to serve in the Brigade Stores until his final retirement in 1986. |
| Bell, Bernard | In December 2016 Aged 92 Bernard was retained at Eastleigh Fire Station until October 1979. |
| Bell, Keith | On 29 June 2023 Aged 77 Keith served as a Fireman at Hythe July 1983 to June 1987 and was also a member of the Esso Refinery Fire Brigade. |
| Bennett, George | On 19th June 2009 Aged 95 He served at Copnor, Southsea and Cosham as a Fireman until his retirement in 1972. |
| Bennett, Pete | On 22 April 2012 Aged 67 Pete served as a Firefighter at Copnor Fire Station until his retirement in 1998. |
| Bennett, Peter | On 29 June 2017 Aged 67 Peter served at Woolston and St Marys Fire Stations. |
| Berry, Harold | On 14th July 2009 Aged 82 He served at Horndean Fire Station as a Leading Fireman until his retirement. |
| Best CBE, Norman | On 24 June 2011 Aged 87 Norman was, for over 20 years, the Chairman of the Hampshire Public Protection Committee, later The Fire and Rescue Authority). H started his political career with Southampton City Council in 1967 and served as both Sheriff and Mayor of the City. He also became Chairman of the Hampshire County Council and was later made an Honorary Alderman. He was a huge supporter of the Service and did a great deal to further its aims during his long association. |
| Betteridge, Keith | Aged 76 Keith served as a Fireman at Beaulieu Fire Station from January 1971 to January 1989. |
| Betteridge, Maurice ‘Morry’ | On 25 October 2022 Aged 87 Morry served at Beaulieu becoming the Sub Officer in Charge, before moving to New Milton. He then transferred to the MoD Fire Service where he made progress through the ranks, serving as Station Officer at Middle Wallop. He also joined Wiltshire Fire Brigade and became the Station Officer in charge of Ludgershall Fire Station. He was also a Town Councillor for Ludgershall. |
| Bevis, Barry | On 20 September 2022 Aged 78 Barry served all his career at Hythe, he joined in October 1975 and retired as the Sub Officer in Charge in February 1999. |
| Bicknell, Bob | On 26 November 2020 Aged 85 Bob served as Divisional Admin Officer at D Div HQ, Redbridge from 20 March 1978 to 31 March 1996, having previously held another role in local government. |
| Biggs, Bob | On 27 April 2020 Aged 66 Bob joined in September 1972 and served at Botley, retiring as Watch Manager in Charge in May 2009. |
| Black, John | On 17 November 2009 Aged 64 John served as a Firefighter at Hartley Wintney and Odiham Fire Stations before leaving to commence a full time career in the British Airports Authority Fire Service until retirement as Chief Fire Officer of that organisation in 2000. |
| Blackburn, Beryl | On 4 September 2015 Aged 84 Beryl worked in the canteen at Headquarters and also worked behind the Phoenix Bar at various functions. She leaves behind two sons Derrick and David as well as three daughters Lesley, Lyn and Susan. |
| Blackburn, Bob | On 3 July 2008 Aged 78 Bob served with Emsworth as a firefighter until his retirement in January 1984. |
| Bond, Kenny | On 6 March 2016 Aged 66 Kenny served as a firefighter at Overton Fire Station from August 1990 until April 2005. |
| Bone, Ann | On 14 January 2017 Aged 61 Ann was employed in the Staff Office at Headquarters from June 1988 and continued in that and other operational support roles until she left in February 2009. Ann was an active supporter of the Headquarters’ social club (The Phoenix Club), and in retirement was a serving member of the Past Members Association Committee. |
| Boswell, Peter | On 22 March 2020 Aged 49 Peter joined Botley as a Retained Fireman in January 1993, then joined wholetime serving as a Fireman at Eastleigh, St Marys and Woolston, until leaving in March 2002. |
| Bowers, Keith | On 28 March 2018 Keith served at Titchfield, Gosport, Andover, Lyndhurst and Woolston, he retired as a Sub Officer. |
| Boyce, Keith | On 1 July 2012 Aged 62 Keith served as a Leading Firefighter at Rushmoor, prior to leaving to serve as a Sub Officer until his retirement in 2005. |
| Bradford, John | On 17 June 2019 Aged 83 John joined the Southampton Fire Brigade in January 1963 and served as a Fireman at Redbridge until his retirement in June 1990. |
| Brewer, Frank | On 2 December 2011 Aged 79 Frank joined the Portsmouth City Fire brigade in 1955 and retired as a Station Officer in May 1982. |
| Broad, Peter | On 30 April 2019 Aged 90 Peter served as a Firefighter at Basingstoke until his retirement in 1982. |
| Bromfield, Peter | On 15 May 2021 Aged 82 Peter served as a Fireman at Burley from June 1965 until December 1982. |
| Broomfield, Ron | On 4 April 2023 Aged 85 Ron served as a Fireman at Romsey February 1970 to February 1993. |
| Brooks, John | On 30 October 2021 Aged 92 John served at Alton, from 1 March 1950, until retiring as Leading Fireman on 28 February 1981. |

| Brown, Norman | On 10 August 2018 Norman served as a retained firefighter at Eastleigh Fire Station. |
| Browne, Roy (Topper) | On 7 February 2022 Aged 80 Roy served at Alton from May 1965, retiring as Sub Officer in Charge in October 1996. |
| Browning, Geoff | On 14th July 2013 Aged 69 Geoff served at Brockenhurst Fire Station as a Sub Officer in Charge until he left in 1997. Geoff was employed with HFRS for 26 years. |
| Bryant, Ivan | On 12 April 2012 Aged 84 Ivan served as a Fireman at Lymington Fire Station until his retirement in September 1980. |
| Burden, Keith | On 31 July 2022 Aged 83 Keith served as an on-call firefighter at Ventnor from 1966 to 1996 leaving the service as a leading firefighter. |
| Butler, Mark | On 16 June 2015 Aged 48 Mark served at Kingsclere and retired as Watch Manager in 2012. |
| Canning, Arthur | On 2 April 2019 Aged 93 Arthur joined Berkshire Fire Brigade in 1946, transferring to Hampshire and serving at Service HQ and Winchester, retiring in 1974 as a Divisional Officer. |
| Carpenter, Jeff | During March 2016 Aged 65 Jeff was retained at Brockenhurst Fire Station until his retirement. |
| Carrington, Richard | On 9 October 2009 Aged 38 Richard served at Hightown Fire Station and had served with HFRS since 1990. |
| Carter, Bill | On 10 April 2012 Aged 68 Bill joined the service workshops as an apprentice in 1959, later becoming the Transport Officer, until his retirement in 2004. Bill also served as a retained member of Winchester Fire Station, joining in 1965 and leaving as a Leading Firemen in 1988. |
| Cavanagh, Carl | On 19 October 2019 Aged 45 Carl served as a retained Firefighter at Hardley from 1999 to 2005 and then became a wholetime Firefighter at Heathrow Airport where he was still serving as Crew Commander at the time of his passing. |
| Cavill, Vic | On 28 May 2012 Aged 84 Vic served at various locations around the county, with extended periods in B Division and D Division post- amalgamation in 1974, retiring as the Divisional Officer, Fire Prevention at D Division, Headquarters, Redbridge Hill in 1985. |
| Chadwick MBE, William (Bill) | On 3 May 2011 Aged 94 Bill served with Hampshire from 1960 as Assistant Chief Fire officer until his move to Wiltshire as Chief Fire officer in 1967. He had previously served with the Oldham Police Fire Brigade, the National Fire Service, rejoining the newly formed Oldham Fire Brigade in 1948 as Third Officer, before his first move to Wiltshire in 1956. |
| Chalmers, Albert | On 9 October 2009 Aged 91 ‘Bert’ Chalmers served as a Fireman in the Portsmouth City Fire Brigade until his retirement in 1972. |
| Charman, George | On 24 September 2019 Aged 81 George served at Tadley from April 1974 until retirement in June 1993. He was one of the first intake, ready for when Tadley got its first fire station. He was also a wholetime Fireman at AWE Aldermaston. |
| Clark, George BEM | On 28 June 2020 Aged 91 George joined the Portsmouth Fire Brigade in December 1952, rising to the rank of Divisional Officer, transferring to Hampshire on 1 April 1974 and becoming Senior Divisional Officer in command of B Division in 1978 and retiring in 1982. George was awarded the BEM for his part in the ‘Pacific Glory’ collision and resulting fire in The Solent in October 1970. |
| Clarke, Lewis (Lew) | On 14th November 2012 Aged: 85 Lew served at Droxford as Sub Officer in charge, until his retirement in March 1982; Lew will also be remembered by many for his long and tireless work for the “Ben Fund”. |
| Cole, Basil | On 24 October 2022 Aged 89 Basil joined Lymington Fire Station on 1 December 1959 and retired as Sub Officer in Charge on 1 March 1988. |
| Cole, David | On 4 February 2015 Aged 88 David served at Bishops Waltham until his retirement as a Leading Fireman in 1981. |
| Cole, Don, BEM | In February 2021 Aged 90 Don served at Bishops Waltham from August 1951 until August 1985, retiring as Sub Officer in Charge, a position he held for over 18 years. He was awarded the BEM for services to the community, he was also very active in raising funds for the FSNBF (Ben Fund), now The Fire Fighters Charity. |
| Cole, Neil, BEM | On 20 May 2022 Aged 67 Neil Cole was a member of Shanklin Fire Station for 37 Years, from April 1978. He was awarded the 2011 Isle of Wight Emergency Service Person of the Year and also the Overall winner of the 2011 Local Island Hero Award. He was instrumental in raising in excess of £250,000 for national and local charities. Among his fundraising feats for charity have been walks in full breathing apparatus from Newport Isle of Wight HQ to London Fire Brigade HQ on no fewer than 4 occasions. Neil was recognised in the 2012 New Year’s Honours list for his service to the community, when he was awarded the British Empire Medal. |
| Coles, Marty | On 9 August 2011 Marty was the serving Watch Manager in charge of Wickham Fire Station and additionally served at Botley. |
| Collins, Eric | In April 2022 Aged 81 Eric was retained at Fareham from April 1970 until May 1996, retiring as Sub Officer in Charge of the retained section. His primary role was a Control Room Operator from April 1970 until May 2006. |
| Collins, Wilfred ‘Ivor’ | 30 March 2022 Aged 82 Ivor served as a retained Fireman at Andover from February 1960 until retirement in February 1994. |
| Conway, Terry | In May 2016 Aged 76 Terry served as a Fireman at Romsey Fire Station from January 1964 to October 1994. |
| Coombes, Leslie | On 11 January 2008 Aged 95 Leslie served at Andover as a Sub Officer until his retirement in 1967. |
| Cousins, Dave | On 27 November 2013 Aged 72 Dave served at Twyford Fire Station as a leading firefighter, until he retired on 9 January 1996. |
| Coventry, Gerald | On 12 February 2012 Aged 74 Gerald served as a Fireman at Kingsclere Fire Station until his retirement in 1992. |
| Coward, Peter | On 29 May 2011 Aged 86 Peter served with Hampshire from June 1961 until his retirement as Divisional Officer (Fire Prevention), based at Winchester, in January 1977. Peter began his career in Manchester. |
| Cowin, Brian | On 23 February 2021 Brian served at Droxford for over 20 years, retiring in 2001 at the rank of Leading Firefighter. |
| Cranford, Dennis | On 15th April 2008 Aged 77 years Dennis served at Hartley Wintney Fire Station from 1960 to 1970. |
| Craven, Ronald | On 26th February 2013 Aged 84 Ronald served at Portchester Fire Station as a Firefighter for seven years until he left in June 1963. |
| Crease, Barbara | On 4 January 2018 Aged 86 Barbara served for 18 years as Divisional Secretary at ‘A’ Division Headquarters retiring in 1996. |
| Croft, Ian | In March 2023 Aged 66 Ian served as a Fireman at East Cowes, the Isle of Wight, between 1983 and 2003. |
| Cummins QFSM, Les ‘Smokey’ | On 11 September 2012 Aged 88 Les, originally joined the National Fire Service in 1946, transferring to the Southampton Fire Brigade in 1948, rising through the ranks to become Deputy Chief Fire Officer. In 1974, on the formation of the Hampshire Fire Brigade, he was transferred in the position of ACO ‘Ops’ before becoming DCFO. He retired in this position in March 1984. |
| Curl, Pete | In November 2020 Aged 84 Pete joined Southampton Fire Brigade in January 1962, serving at Docks and St Marys before retiring as a Fireman in November 1991. |
| Cutler, Stewart | On 8 November 2010 Aged 64 Stewart served as a Leading Fireman at Droxford until he left the service in July 1991. |
| Darwin, Peter | On 9 July 2012 Aged 67 Pete served at Cosham as a Firefighter until his retirement in 1999. |
| Davies, Graham ‘Yogi’ | On 5 December 2018 Aged 74 Graham served from March 1974 to December 1993 as a Fireman at Cosham Fire Station. |
| Davis, Audrey | On 15 June 2018 Aged 84 Audrey was a former cook at Redbridge Hill Fire Station. |
| Davis, Helen | On 24 January 2023 Aged 62 Helen joined Droxford in December 1993, serving for 21 years before retiring in 2014. |
| Dawson, Brian | On 20th August 2013 Aged 78 Brian served at Gosport Fire Station as a Retained Leading Firefighter for 30 years until he retired on 10 July 1990. |
| Dennis, John | On 12 April 2014 Aged 72 John served at Ringwood Fire Station as a firefighter until he retired on 26 January 1997 |
| Doe, Steve | On 21st August 2009 Aged 56 He served at Fire Stations and in Fire Safety in Portsmouth and Fareham until his retirement as a Sub Officer in 2004. |
| Doherty, Les | On 1 August 2010 Aged 62 Les served at a variety of locations, including Andover, Gosport, Redbridge, Winchester and Training Centre before retiring in the rank of Station Officer in January 1998. |
| Doyle, Edward ‘Ted’ | March 2015 Aged 91 Ted served at Fareham, retiring as Retained Sub Officer in 1979. |
| Ebbs, Leslie (Les) | On 14 February 2008 Aged 72 years Les served at Docks Fire Station and D Division Fire Safety as Station Officer until his retirement on 28 February 1989. |
| Edmunds, Adrian | On 7 April 2018 Adrian served at Sutton Scotney from March 1971 to September 1989, retiring as Sub Officer in charge. He was well known for his picture framing business and he supplied many fine prints and certificates etc to the Service and to individuals. |
| Elleker, Michael | On 8 November 2020 Michael served at Petersfield for over 30 years, from 1 October 1959 to 30 April 1990, retiring as Sub Officer. |
| Ellis, Fred | On 16 December 2011 Aged 68 Fred served as a Firefighter at Hamble Fire Station until May 1993. |
| Errigo, Angelo | On 26 December 2016 Aged 66 Angelo came to Hampshire from London Fire Brigade in March 1986, served a period of time at the Fire Service College, on secondment from Hampshire. He served in Hampshire until July 1994, eventually to become the Deputy Firemaster of Dumfries and Galloway Fire Brigade. |
| Evans, Jeff | On 16 November 2019 Aged 68 ‘Taff’ joined in April 1978 and served as a Fireman at Southsea and at Fareham until retirement in December 1999. |
| Evans, John | On 9 February 2011 Aged 96 John served with the Hampshire Fire Service having joined the Southampton Fire brigade pre-WW2, and then with the National Fire Service. He was for many years the Divisional Officer in Charge of ‘D Division’ based at Lyndhurst Div HQ, before becoming Deputy Chief Fire Officer, immediately leading up to amalgamation and prior to his retirement in April 1974. |
| Evans, Trevor (‘Taffy’) | On 30 April 2010 Aged 87 ‘Taffy’ served at Gosport, Aldershot, Eastleigh and Lyndhurst before his retirement as Station Officer, Senior Instructor at the Training Centre in October 1976. |
| Eves, Ron | Aged 65 Ron joined the wholetime service on 28 August 1974 and served at St Mary’s, Woolston and Hightown Fire Stations. He retired as a Leading Fireman on 27 August 2004. |
| Farley, Harold | On 20 April 2012 Aged 88 Harold served as a Retained Fireman at Fareham Fire Station until his retirement in July 1970. |
| Farminer, Ian | On 12 May 2015 Age unknown Ian served in Driver Training at Headquarters. |
| Fell, Reg | On 20th April 2008 Aged 87 years. Reg served at Basingstoke Fire Station as a retained and wholetime firefighter until his retirement in 1975. |
| Fenech, Ron | On 12 October 2022 Aged 79 Ron started his fire service career as a retained fireman at Romsey Fire Station in February 1971. He then joined wholetime in February 1974 and after training was posted to Eastleigh. In May 1978 he transferred to Winchester, and remained there, retiring as a Fireman in June 1998. |
| Flitter, David | On 27 December 2010 Aged 66 Dave served as a Fireman at Fareham Fire Station until his retirement. |
| Ford, Ray | On 25 June 2012 Aged 81 Ray served at Workshops, becoming the Workshops Manager, before moving to Headquarters as the Transport Officer until his retirement in 1988. |
| Foster, Dawn | Notification received 1 May 2021 Aged 65 A former B Div clerical assistant, Dawn joined Portsmouth City FB on 1st July 1972 and left on 19th February 1997. Dawn will be fondly remembered by many, she was indeed a B Div legend. |
| Fox, Dave | On 6 December 2020 Aged 72 Dave served as Fireman at Copnor, Southsea and at Fawley (Hardley) from August 1969 to January 2000. |
| Freemantle, Kenneth (Ken) | On 16th May 2013 Aged 66 years Ken served at Redbridge Fire Station as a Firefighter until he left the service in April 2002. |
| Fry, Cyril | On 25 January 2012 Aged 84 Cyril Originally joined the Middlesex Fire Brigade in 1949, before transferring to Hampshire in 1962, serving at Aldershot and at Basingstoke, before his retirement as a Fireman in 1978. |
| Fyrth, Paul | On 1 November 2009 Aged 66 Paul served in a variety of posts with many years in Fire Prevention/Fire Safety until his retirement at the rank of Divisional Officer at Divisional Headquarters (Redbridge) in January 1994. |
| Gaffney, Geoff | On 27th August 2013 Aged 83 Geoff served at various stations throughout Hampshire, his final posting was at Eastleigh Fire Station as a Firefighter, until he retired on 16 December 1984. |
| Gigg, Charles | In January 2014 Aged 99 Charlie joined the fire service in April 1935, firstly as a part time member then wholetime, serving through the war years. He continued service after the war as a member of the NFS and into the newly formed Hampshire fire service in April 1948. Finally Charlie changed roles into a non uniformed member of staff based at HQ, with duties as the Chief’s driver until his retirement in October 1977. |
| Gillam, Ralph | On 15 September 2014 Aged 91 Ralph served at Burley Fire Station as a Sub Officer until his retirement in December 1977. |
| Glover, Barry | On 27 May 2021 Aged 85 Barry served as a retained member at Lyndhurst from March 1957 until his retirement as Sub Officer in December 1990. He was also a member of the Monsanto Chemicals Fire Brigade at Hardley. |
| Goddard, James (Jim) | On 6 December 2022 Aged 75 Jim joined Hampshire Fire Brigade in April 1977 and served at Basingstoke on White Watch all his career, retiring as a Firefighter in August 2002. He had been living in Barbados for the past few years. |
| Goffin, Eric, Richard | October 2014 Aged 79 Eric joined Fareham Fire Station as a retained firefighter in 1958. |
| Gosling, Ted | On 13 March 2020 Aged 85 Ted served as an auto-electrician at Workshops from May 1964 until retirement in August 1999. |
| Gouge, Charlie | On 21 April 2017 Aged 88 Charlie served as a Leading Fireman at Fordingbridge Fire Station from April 1954 to March 1984. |
| Gould, Reg | On 18 December 2014 Age unknown Reg was a member of the Southampton Fire Brigade until he resigned in May 1969. |
| Green, Pearl | Date unknown Aged 86 Pearl served as station cook at Basingstoke, from July 1988 until October 2000. “Basingstoke Pearl” was considered by many to be Basingstoke, especially to those who served there. She was a friendly face to many and second mum to some of the younger firefighters. |
| Greenbank, John | On 26 October 2018 Aged 55 John joined Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service in March 1987, serving at St Marys, Woolston, Gosport, C Div and HQ Fire Safety and Southsea. He resigned in July 2004 at the rank of Station Officer. |

| Osman, Den | February 2018 Den started with HFRS as a volunteer in August 2013 and coordinated the volunteers in the Basingstoke Group. He was a very proactive member of the team and undertook a variety of activities including presentations, community group talks, home safety visits and open days. Some PMA members may be more familiar with Den in pursuit of his hobby of fire engine preservation, and long-term involvement with the Odiham Fire Show. Den was one of the owners who took part in the vehicle parade at the Annual Service of Remembrance at The Firefighters’ Memorial each September. |

One of his roles at HQ was that of Mobilising Officer in the rank of ADO during 1976’s busy summer. | Simmons, Les | On 24 February 2018 Age 82 Les started his career as a Fireman at West End in March 1961. He continued at West End until retiring as the Sub Officer in charge in April 1986. As a tandem career he joined Fire Control in March 1972, progressing through the ranks to become Control Officer in charge of a Watch, retiring from that position in September 1996. In December 1997, he took on the role of Team Leader for the newly formed Catering Team, responding to incidents to ‘feed the troops’. He performed this role until April 1999 when he and his wife Linda moved to settle into a new life in Gloucestershire. |

| Willmott, Denis (Jerry), CBE QFSM | On 29 July 2023 Aged 90 Jerry came to Hampshire after service with the London Fire Brigade and Buckinghamshire. He served with Hampshire 1965 to 1970 as an ADO at Basingstoke, before moving to become the DCFO (DO) of the Isle of Wight, then moving on to become the DCFO in Wiltshire, back to London as Chief Staff Officer and then CFO of Merseyside. In retirement from the fire service, he became the Group Contingency Manager for the Avon Rubber Group, based at Melksham, responsible for fire protection at their premises. He also became very involved in local politics, becoming an elected member and seeing him become the Chairman of the Wiltshire County Council. He was also President of the Wiltshire Retired Firefighters Association. |

Alan was the well known Officer in Charge of Havant for 7 years, and he was for many years a stalwart fundraiser for and hard-working supporter of the ‘Ben Fund’, continuing his fund-raising efforts, with his wife Joyce, well into retirement. |
| Wright, Joyce | On 9 March 2012 Wife of Alan Wright Joyce will be remembered for her unstinting support of the Ben Fund and the many hours she spent alongside Alan, fundraising at various station open days and fire service events. Her commitment to the Fund was truly outstanding. |
