PMA Trip on the MV Alison MacGregor – Friday 2nd June 2017

Once everyone had embarked and the wheelchairs had been secured into position, we set off through Hythe Marina lock into Southampton Water, the excursion taking us up the River Itchen as far as is navigable to Wood Mill at Mansbridge, a journey of approximately two and half miles from the port itself.

Everybody had a great time and Eddie Winter has received several emails of thanks for organising the trip. Look out for a full report of the trip, written by Eddie, in the ‘Stop Message’ magazine.

We will organise PMA trips on the MV Alison MacGregor again in future years and whilst the boat is designed to take disabled passengers it can also accommodate those that are as fit as a flea too, so don’t be bashful, if you want to come along next time just put your name down.

Buckingham Palace Visit 2016

On a lovely, sunny September day, 53 of our members and partners boarded a coach for a day out in London .

Our first stop was the Rubens Hotel opposite the Royal Mews. A two course carvery lunch was served in the newly refurbished Old Masters restaurant and included roast rib of Scottish beef, roast pork or Scottish salmon with all the trimmings . The wine was most enjoyable but needed to be “carefully guarded” at the price being charged!

After lunch we crossed the road into Buckingham Palace to enjoy an audio tour, which included the magnificent State rooms, Royal galleries, a fine collection of porcelain and furnishings. Our visit also coincided with an exhibition of clothing and hats worn by The Queen throughout her reign. Many famous costumes were on display including her wedding and coronation gowns, together with pictures or movie clips of ceremonial events and Royal visits. Some 2 hours later afternoon tea or ice cream was being enjoyed on the terrace of The Palace overlooking the beautiful gardens and lake.

It was a grand day out!
