The Sunday Lunch and Skittles event is an annual PMA event run at Wellow Golf Club. It was first run in 2015, and initially organised by PMA Committee members Ann Bone and Lin Winter. From 2016 it was run by Eddie and Lin Winter.
Starting promptly at 12:15pm, prior to the game actually commencing, the 42 attendees were pre-warned of the rules of ‘Killer Skittles’. Basically each player bowls a single ball at what’s left at the alley when it’s their turn. Each has a total of 4 lives and a ‘life’ is lost each time a player fails to score when it’s their turn. The game progresses until there is only one player left eligible to play a shot, and they are the winner.
The game starts immediately after. We took a 90 minute break at 13:15pm for an amazing 3-course lunch, and completed the game by 16:30.
Having squeezed 41 other attendees out of the game, Carole Button was the 2026 Champion (see photo below of Carole receiving her trophy from Eddie Winter).
Organisers Eddie and Lin Winter thanked everybody for coming, Pete Cowmeadow for his assistance on the day and made a special mention of the two ‘ball boys’, Ralph and Jack, who saved all us ‘oldies’ the effort of bending and stretching. Congratulations were extended to Carole Button on her success, and wished all a safe journey.
If you missed out this year, then we look forward to seeing you for the 10th running of the event in 2027.
